My Thoughts on the Trump Tariffs - To India
Trump Tariffs has become a Joke. Without any Concrete discussions, by whims and fancies he is announcing the Tariffs - In Press Conferences, in TRUTH Social Media etc., Even his government officials are also talking in the same language.
Scott Bessent - Treasury Secretary, Marc Rubio - Secretary of State, Howard Lutnic - Secretary of Commerce - If we see those interviews in the Social Media - bits and pieces - it is a nice bit of Joke. Like Today - Marc Rubio stating that to stop the war between Russia and Ukraine - US is imposing the additional 25% Tariff. If the US wants to draw the same line , China is buying more Oil than India - as US is heavily dependent of Chinese goods - 3 month moratorium on Trade Tariffs has been extended. Even Putin addressed the media in Alaska - Where Trump and Putin held talks - stated that in Trumps Second term - Trade with US has been increased by 20 Percentage.
One thing that has come out of this Trump Tariff is India - Russia Friendship has gone one level higher and India - China relationship has been improved. Wang Yi - Chinese Foreign Minister landed for a Two day trip from Monday to Tuesday - Met the EAM S. Jaishankar, Ajit Doval - NSA and also met the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Modi has confirmed that he is going to attend the SCO Summit in Shanghai last week of August - also expected to meet Putin. After the FM visit from China - task forces has been setup , infact two, one to discuss and come to an understanding on the Border Demarcation , which is a huge announcement and another task force on the Trade Disputes.
Today Russia has given a statement that it is very objectionable that USA is imposing Tariffs just because India is buying the Oil from Russia. In that case, the goods that has to go to USA can come to Russia.
India is in the final stages of negotiations on the FTA with Oman, European Union, Peru, Venuzuela, New Zealand etc.,
