2026 - First Post - happy new year and happy pongal
BJP - Nitin Nabhi has been elected as the President of the BJP. Modi introduced him as a millenium leader. He is 45 years old. A grassroots leader who risen from the ranks of the ABVP days to Karyakarta in BJP - 3 times MLA in Bihar - Cabinet Minister in present government in Bihar of Nitish Kumar.
Tamilnadu : NDA Alliance is getting clearer by the day - AIADMK-BJP-PMK (Anbumani group - which is the real PMK as recognised by the ECI)-TMC. Today AMMK dinakaran joined the NDA to fight the elections of TN 2026. NDA is organising a mammoth rally in chennai (Madurantakam) on 23rd Jan on which the PM is attending and going to address which officially rung in the NDA campaign for the 2026 Assembly elections. All the Major Alliance partners will be present in the Dais along with the PM. DMDK, Puthiya Tamizhaga party and others may also attend or it may join the NDA alliance later on.
Ruling Party Alliance is still having consultations with the Congress - it has not given the confirmation that it will remain in the Alliance. VCK/Vaiko/both the communists are waiting and watching what signal is the congress is going to send based on that their demands will be known. Being the ruling party they are in the advantage but Anti-Incumbency is on a high note which is visible so they have already started the 'GIVING' campaigns like VIPs constituencies have launched the Pongal Gifts, new Year gifts like gift baskets which consists of Pressure Cooker, some utensils, saree, veshtis, cash dole are being distributed as a token for under privileged communities etc., it has been completed in Udayanithi, Stalin, K N Nehru, E V Velu constituencies - which has come out in the 'X' - this is what they will do to keep the voters happy. All these things will be completed before the announcement of the election date which is expected in the Second - Third week of February 2026, from then the Code of Conduct for the elections which would have come into effect. Money would have to be moved to all the constituencies now itself else during the code of conduct time there will be vehicle searches all along.
TVK is now in loggerheads which no 'recognised' party or leaders joining the party - all are watching what is the going to be the move of Vijay; who is in silent mode for the past 35 days with no clear sign of any campaign meetings. His last movie as he has expressed, Jananayagan (Remake of Balayyas Sreekanta Kesari - a superhit movie which released during the year 2023) has went into tussle with the CBFC and still hasn't got the censor certificate, the final verdict is pending with the High Court.
International : Trump is on the Move - invaded Venezuela - captured the president and his wife and brought to US and initiated the legal proceedings; Then he started talking about invading Greenland a free country with affilliation to Denmark and in the Europe (NATO) - drama is being played out now today at the Davos Economic Summit; Iran where the revolution or agitation against the regime which went on for 2-3 weeks from the last wek of december 2025 to second week of January 2026 - Trump said if agitators were killed then he will invade Iran; Crackdown by the Iranian Regime killed about 5000 Agitators -when Trump said the attack from the US is imminent -Iran officially said it stopped executions amounting to about 800 People; Trump trumpeted that the Iran has officially halted the executions by hanging and stopped the Attack. But Trump and the Administration is saying that all the options are in the Table.
Trade : Important Trade FTA agreement with the EU - about 28 countries aligned in the European Union - going to be signed by January 27th 2026 - with the EU team headed by the EU president - who are the Chief Guest of our Republic Day parade - which has been touted as the Mother of all deals. This is coming at the time when the USA deal has been paused by the US Administration.
Sports : India lost the One day series with New Zealand. Today is the start of the 5 match T20 series with New zealand the last important Bi-lateral series befoe the T20 world cup which is going to be held in India and Srlanka. WPL is going on and first confirmation that RCB has entered the Knock out league.
